Compass Tekno get a chance to meet the man born in Denpasar, 4 April 1987 in Agate Studio, Setiabudi, Bandung, before Arief ready to depart to Surabaya for launching badminton game "Smash Mania" in Surabaya. Did not get a direct interview, Arief willing to do interviews via email. Here are the results of the interview:
Since when Arief like the game? there is a unique story about a childhood game?
Since TK 0 small already play games for nintendo dibeliin parents, since it seems like it has super play games. You could say a third to half the time I used it for gaming (already included sleep, it means that one day could be 8 to 12 hours). Uniquely it may seem I've had the game of passion in the development of small, small is very fond of making comics, make a game pake paper, even when I could get out RPG Maker for days in front of the game.
How Arief opinion about the game itself?
Game has tremendous potential for brainwashing a generation, so when given a positive value-value via the game, there will be a massive change in life. Also independently trained gamernya game to be not easily give up (if you play games, continue game over, few people give up her yes, definitely retry), games can also train concentration skills, thinking skills, reflexes and of course can foster self-confidence to the most extreme level.
Is it really aspire to become entrepreneurs in the gaming industry?
Hmmmm, maybe from the first had always dreamed to be able to create their own games.
How could initially join with friends in Agate Studio?
Coincidentally, happened to meet my friends are crazy (even crazier), and have the same passion in the game and of course all sharing the same vision to make the world happier.
Can you tell us the joys and sorrows build Agate Studio?
Ha Ha Ha, maybe love-joy, yes, in retrospect ga no grief because, all the moments we enjoy. Everything is still very pleasant, able to work in accordance with a passion, although in the beginning we start with a salary of only Rp 50 thousand one, one day able to work a minimum of 15 hours, all of them pleasant. One very touching moment for us, is when our numbers are about 30-person, and can pay minimum wage in accordance with less, greatly moved.
What is the most memorable experience during the build Agate Studio?
For me personally, moments of the happiest is when it bit by bit Agate succeeded in inspiring people to pursue a dream, Agate managed to inspire us to get more out of life's moments and Live The Fun Way.
Do you think personally, Agate Studio's what? Houses? The playground, or place of work?
Yup, Agate is a Home for us (we use instead of Home House, Because there's family in it), a playground, and of course a place to work. Agate is also a very positive environment to develop and contribute to the world.
What are you planning ahead for Agate Studio and what you plan ahead for yourself? whether it will take care of Agate or intends to make something new?
Hmmm, Agate vision and my vision is inline personally, so I will always try to contribute as much as possible so that Agate's vision to contribute in making the world happier could materialize slowly.
How Arief looked Agate Studio today than before? What changes are most visible and most pronounced?
Until now the most visible is the number we got a lot of crew, but until now I am also very happy that our turnover is still 0, and until now, vision and values that we waistband of the first still preserved, and even become much more positive.
How do parents think about your options and set up their own business in the field of gaming?
Parents are very support, background coincidence they are also entrepreneurs, perhaps that is rather take my decision to dropout from ITB campus.
How did choose Drop Out of college?
If you DO still more in the direction of choice and preference, if for survival, in my opinion not very connected really. One can survive with or without a degree. The point ga no direct impact between the degree with survival, but between knowledge with survival, we aim to campus's learning. Do not even so kepikiran that have dropped out first before building the business.
How do you think of the local gaming industry, both past, present, and prospects for the future?
Development of the local gaming industry two years is very interesting (from the very rapid growth), and the prospects for the future is also very bright (this applies not only locally, but also prospects for the global gaming industry), only now living readiness of our local gaming industry must steady, before foreigners began to come in and eventually become our local gaming industry dominance.
Arief what to expect from the government to encourage the growth of gaming industry in Indonesia?
Up to this point, see the development of our government, the government has been very supportive of our creative industries (where the games included in it), so so far so good anyway if ya see a track record of governance. But perhaps the industry would be more stable if some of the side there is also the policy of the government such as (these look to other countries that succeed in the gaming industry due to government intervention):
1. Marketing together and make the market together (South Korea),
2. Incentive or Grant for research startup game developer or game developer (Singapore, Malay, South Korea),
3. Tax holiday (UK - 10 yr, Singapore - 3yr),
4. Academic Support to create talent.
